men-u is a British brand and has a range of multi-award winning products that are distributed to professional outlets around the world. This is the first men-u grooming outlet and Southampton was chosen because of it being an up and coming city, making a lot of significant, positive developments even in these tough economic times.

men-u think men want a quality service whether a haircut or shave / facial, at a time to suit and in comfort. They want well trained staff, in good clean surroundings with a temperature controlled environment. men-u also think men really want to enjoy their grooming experience with modern benefits. But at a reasonable price! Men should have hair cut wet, then washed and conditioned before styling. Does anyone really want that itchy feeling around the collar after a dry haircut?

Within the current 4 person team at the outlet we have:

Creative Director of the outlet Lloyd Hughes has 26 years experience in men’s hairdressing. He has worked in Manchester, London and Portsmouth. He has been an international educator and demonstrator for American Crew and he has been involved in makeover shows for television, won the prestigious men-u uber groomer award for 2008 before becoming the Creative & Education Director for men-u in 2010. Lloyd has also won numerous awards for the training and development of stylists. “Quality, image driven, men’s grooming has become an obsession for me!” says Lloyd.

Ian Turner who hails from Millbrook is another senior member of the team and is returning to work in Southampton after 3 years having worked in Winchester and the outskirts of Southampton. Ian also has experience training staff within outlets and college.
